The Seed
This photograph shows the seeds with the label. I always write the date sown on the label, and I count the seeds carefully. This enables me to compare sowings from different seed sources, different taxa, different times of the year, etc. I write the number sown on the label also. You will notice that I am now using a terracotta saucer. I find that static electricity make fine seeds stick to a plastic saucer and terracotta does not have this problem. It is also useful to write the name of the seed source on the label.
