Giving Saturated Conditions
Soaking is the key to my method of germination. The individual pots of seeds are now placed in a seed tray (flat) with no drainage holes in the base. Fill the tray with water to approximately 10 mm below the level that the seeds are at.
Water will rapidly rise to the surface of the soil and soak the seeds. This may seem totally unnatural, but trust me, it works!
How Much Soaking?
The photograph below shows, in close up, the water level in comparison to the soil surface. You will notice the wetness that the seeds are in. Notice the water level just below the soil line.
