Beginnings of Life
In this photograph, taken just 48 hours after sowing, you can see two seedlings breaking out of the seed shell.
This germination was unusually quick, it would more normally have been approximately five days, but we had a spell of fine weather. With only two seeds germinating, the pot stays in the saturated conditions until more come through. The photo below shows two embryos pushing through their seed coats.
